Annual Appeal 2020

Seasons Greetings Members and Friends of the Warner House

November 2019

I would like to thank all of you for helping the Warner House accomplish many of its goals this past year. We opened the season on May 31st with a Celebration of the opening of our Exhibit and honoring the wonderful work of our talented gardeners from the Portsmouth Garden Club under the direction of Caroline Fesquet. Thanks to them, our gardens have become the “talk of the town!”  There is also a plaque on the bench in the arbor of the garden honoring Larry Kent for his many years of service to the Warner House.  Under the direction of Bob Barth and our Curatorial Committee, the Warner House hosted an extensive and remarkable exhibit entitled  “From the Mundane to the Sublime: Stoneware 1600-1775”. This was very successfully received by both critics and the public. We had very good attendance this season and many positive comments.  Thank you to Bob and the Curatorial Committee for all their work in helping to set up the exhibit and the extra time volunteers and Bob gave in helping as Greeters this season to facilitate the flow of visitors.

By the time you read this letter, a much-needed new furnace and heating system will have been installed at the Warner House.  Thank you to James Taylor and the Building and Grounds Committee for their work in getting this accomplished.

A lot has been accomplished this year but, as always, there is still a lot to be done.  There has been a problem of water in the basement which has caused the containers that store our artifacts to become moldy.  They need to be replaced so the artifacts may be preserved safely.  An upgrade of our wiring and electrical system is also badly needed and must be addressed.  We also have our ongoing operating expenses which must be met such as insurance, telephone, marketing, gas and electric.  To help us maintain and improve our wonderful legacy, I invite you to make your gift to our Annual Appeal today.  We have set a goal of $15,000, and we believe this can be achieved with help from all of you.  Please also consider helping by serving on a committee, attending our events, and please bring a friend.  Also consider serving on our Board of Governors or as a Greeter or Guide.  You are a very important part of the Warner House and we encourage you to attend all our events.  We are grateful for your continued support of the Warner House and we cannot do it without YOU.
